DRAFTING AND PRODUCTIVITY COMMANDS

Quick New

A new option for starting a new drawing from a template.  Set your system variables to (FILEDIA system variable to 1) and (STARTUP system variable to 0). Pre-Select your template in the Options > Files dialog box. Invoke the command as QNEW and you will get a new drawing instantly without any dialog boxes to deal with. I guess this will be handy for someone.

This was a long time coming! Ever want to let everyone in the area you made a big mistake?  Try hitting CTRL+Z 30 times as fast as you can.  This new options allows you to undo back at one shot (without having to set a mark first). This is similar to what you would find in MS Word.

MText

Except for the tabs and the indents, I don’t know if this is a big step forward for Mtext. It's a cleaner look, but they have taken out the quick access to symbols (%, o, etc) find and replace, and moved them a right click option.

New Toolbar Icons

A minor change, but worth noting. The icons have changed to look a little more modern. How about the new EXPLODE icon, eh?

User Requests

Clean Screen - Need more real estate on your monitor? Hit CNTL+0 (zero) to toggle to 'clean screen' - nothing but the drawing area, menu bar and the command line. Hit CTRL+0 to get back to the regular screen.

Display Order - This is familiar to anyone who has used a graphics program. If objects overlap, you can change the order in which they appear. Use this by the Tools> Display Order.

Close Drawing - If are in the middle of a command and want to close the drawing, you can now do this without having to end the command. Not sure if this is a good thing, as it no loger provides a check in case you weren't finished something before you close.

Hatch Preview - The new option doesn't require you to return to the dialog box to accept the hatch. This can now be done with an <enter> or right-click.

Fillet and Chamfer - Amazing, now you can set these commands to continue after you have completed an action. Before you had to restart the command for every fillet or chamfer (or use the REPEAT command)

Layout Tabs- Cycle through your layout tabs by pressing CTRL+PAGE UP / DOWN.

Hidden Lines. - Change the hidden line settings for your drawing for the HIDE command for example, they can be dashed now. This is a great new tool for 3D designers who don't want to deal with SOLDRAW and SOLVIEW.

Insert Block and External Reference Settings - Your insert options for blocks and xrefs (scale, insertion point, rotation) are now stored as permanent AutoCAD session settings. Previously they were only available for each drawing session.

Pan and Zoom - Here's a fix for XP users. You can now pan and zoom past the edge of the monitor. Previously, it would stop at the edge.

Polyline Edit - How about this one: "Do you want to turn it into a Polyline?" - Of course, that's why I selected it! Now you can turn off this annoying prompt with the PEDITACCEPT system variable set to 1.

Render Window - Ever wanted to close that pesky Render window? Now you can.
